I’ve always been a “book in hand” type of person, but technology makes it so easy to have all your books downloaded and organized on your own personal online book shelf. While I will always love going to the library and checking out an old book and I’ll always have that bookshelf in the corner of my room housing all my favorites, I can’t help but love being able to click that download button without leaving my house. The only problem is, it can get pretty pricey. That’s why I look for deals. Here are some of my favorites…
Book Bub … This website has recently become my new best friend! I was on Pinterest and happened to come across this website and after looking into it I decided to sign up. It’s free so what the hell, right? Well now I get emails every day with discounted or free books! Score! When you sign up you choose what genres you’re interested in and the website does the rest. It will scan though and send you the daily deals (in the genres you choose) to be downloaded to your Kindle, Nook, iBooks and more. Some are free, some are $1.99 but they are all marked down. Just the other day I ended up getting a collection of 3 books for $0.99! Some of the books it sends are books I probably would have never found on my own and others are popular books that have dropped in price for only one day. With each daily email you’re bound to find something that catches your interest, and seriously, who can beat the prices?
Another favorite of mine is Kindle Unlimited. While this could appear to be a little more pricey, for what you’re getting it’s honestly a steal. Kindle Unlimited gives you unlimited access to over 1 million books for $9.99 a month. Come on, you can spend that on one trip to Starbucks! Plus, if you’ve never signed up for it before you get a 30 day free trial before you have to start paying. You can also cancel at any time if you feel you’re not reading enough per month for it to be worth it.
Ok, now this one is very new to me and I was so in shock and excited when I found this out. I was at the library looking for a specific book and the online catalogue told me it was only available as an electronic book. When I asked what that meant I was told that I could only download it online. It still works the same as “checking out” a book and it’ll automatically be “returned” after 2 weeks unless you decide to renew it. So you mean I can download my library books for free? I think this a game changer. You get the luxury of checking out your library books from your couch AND you don’t have to worry about late fees because it automatically returns itself. It also gives you option to return the book before it’s due
Our generation is all about convenience and finding the best deals. While I will still make my way to the library every so often to check out a book that dozens and dozens of people have flipped the same pages, online is just so much easier.
